More About the Recipes in This Prep Session
Recipe #1: Fall-Off-The-Bone Ribs
You don’t need a smoker to make fall-off-the-bone tender ribs. Your slow cooker or Instant Pot and a few minutes under the broiler will do the work for you.
Serving Suggestions: Cut ribs into individual pieces and serve with extra BBQ Sauce on the side. Side dish ideas include: corn on the cob, slaw, baked beans, biscuits, and watermelon.Mix It Up:
- Use this same rub and our Homemade BBQ Sauce, but make them in your smoker instead.
- If you have leftover ribs (is that possible?), pull the meat off the bone and either stir into baked beans or use on a sandwich.
Recipe #2: Cuban Style Pork Paninis
Trust us when we say, this interesting combo of panini ingredients results in one amazing hot sandwich. Citrus-infused shredded pork, honey ham, Swiss cheese, mustard, and crunchy pickles come together in the perfect combo of complex flavor, texture, and gooey goodness.
Serving Suggestions: For picky eaters, customize the sandwich only using the ingredients they like. Serve hot paninis with sides like oven fries or salad.
Mix It Up:
- Use the shredded pork as “carnitas” filling in tortillas. Top with your favorite Mexican toppings.
- Make quesadillas using the cheese, some shredded pork, chopped ham, and chopped dill pickles. Could even add a little of the mustard, too.
- Rachael Ray uses these ingredients to make an omelet! That would be fun to try.
Recipe #3: BBQ Drumsticks
Sticky, sweet, and just a little spicy, these drumsticks are economical, kid-friendly, and tasty. The secret to making these crispy is giving them a few minutes under the broiler at the end.
Serving Suggestions: Serve with extra BBQ sauce on the side and try one of these side dish ideas like mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, and green beans.
Mix It Up: Use this same rub and our BBQ sauce on chicken breasts or chicken thighs. Cook in the slow cooker on Low for 2 ½-3 ½ hours or in the Instant Pot for 7 minutes with a quick release.
